CPS117 Sketch Challenge

My card for the CPS 117 challenge. I colored adorable little Violet Bittybloom to match the pretty papers from K & Co. I like all the rounded corners, changes the whole feel of the card, doesn't it? I don't use rounded corners nearly as much as I should. Makes for harder sewing though, my stitches are not very good going around the corners, LOL.

I am obsessed with my Lemon Tart and Spring Moss buttons from Papertrey Ink! I can't stop using them, looking at them, admiring their shiny, pearly round beauty! They are so pretty in all their little Making Memories jars, lined up on my shelf.

Well, it's back to work today, ugghh... I had a very nice 5 days off.

More Ketto's--Same layout, different colors...

When a layout works, it works, and I use it again and again. These two cards I have to show you are a perfect example. I did the Spring Moss/Lavender Moon/Lemon Tart card first, loved it so much I had to try it again with different colors! I just love the PTI Guidelines 2 background set so much, the colors and pattern possibilities are endless!

Almost all the supplies I used are Papertrey Ink, their colors are so easy to coordinate.

Here's the other card I did using the same layout in Melon Berry/Berry Sorbet/Avocado. Who would have thought those colors would work?! Not only do they work, they look amazing together.

I needed some baby cards for my stash, so I picked up this cute baby stamp set from Fiskars. There was a little bit of everything in the set, sentiments, lots of images, tag stamps.

I colored this sweet baby jammy with colored pencils, blended with OMS and layered some scalloped ovals, all in only two colors--Soft Sky and white.

I'm going to make a bunch of these in pink and blue, it seems like someone is always having a baby and I need one last minute!

Bless This Nest...

Now is this card vintage looking or what?! I think it's the red polka dot paper. I used the new Bird Watching set from Papertrey Ink.

I colored it with colored pencils blended with OMS, cut out a popped up some of the elements. The little 'Bless this nest' sign I cut out and used some of the thin twine to make a 'hanger', which I then looped around the button. I think this is the first time I've made a card without ribbon! LOL. But the rustic twine just seemed more fitting.

Jeweled Hummingbird

I love Hummingbirds. Whenever I have petunias planted in our deck boxes out back, this gorgeous iridescent emerald hummingbird comes by for some nectar all summer. So when I saw someone use this stamp from Inkadinkado on SCS, I knew I had to have it! He's so fun to color with all the patterns and little details.

The flowers are from Magnolia, which I popped up and layered. I also stamped the hummingbird on vellum, then colored on the back of the wings, cut them out and glued them on to the main image. It kind of looks like he is really flying, because if you've ever seen a real hummingbird, you know you can't even see the wings! They are a blur because they're moving so fast. That's the effect the vellum kind of has.

CPS116 Sketch Challenge

Bittybloom is colored with colored pencils to match the Memory Box papers. Love that Sprout collection that is unfortunately discontinued! Soooo sad! My Mom's Birthday Card

Dug through some of my older stamps and came across this lovely Hydrangea bucket by Debbie Mumm. My mom loves flowers and frills, the prettier, the better! This has it all, lace, pearls, bows, scallops...

I love making large cards like this. Almost 6" square! There's plenty of room for all sorts of embellishments and large images.

Right at Home...

I've made quite a few cards and projects using this house stamp from PTI's Boards and Beams. It's an absolutely gorgeous stamp set. I was kind of hoping Nichole from PTI would make a spring/summer addition for the set, maybe trees with flowers, or some potted roses. But it doesn't look like it will be this year. :-(

I colored this one with my colored pencils, blended with OMS. Except for the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice punch, all supplies used were from Papertrey Ink. Oh, and some Liquid Glass for the windows. It's barely noticable in the picture but IRL, it looks so cool!

Tea Bag Card

When I saw this tutorial on SCS, I knew I had to try it. I love tea, and how great would it be to include a couple of tea bags in a card to someone feeling under the weather?! And of course, PTI's Tea for Two set was perfect for the project! So what paper to use with this, well---let's see...How about Green Tea Leaves? LOL!

I think someone over at Papertrey loves tea more than I do! Making this project gave me an idea though. Instead of just a card with two pockets for holding tea bags, what about a book filled with different kind of teas, like 12 pockets for a year of different kinds of tea bags? That would make an awesome gift for a fellow tea lover! I'll post it here if I ever do it.

Another gorgeous Ketto darling, all dressed up in her best outfit! She's got her hair all done up with sunflowers, woo hoo! Maybe ready for a night of dancing...

Don't mind me, sometimes I have to put a little story to my cards, LOL! And because she looks so fashionable, I had to pull out some of this paper from an older Basic Grey collection, Sultry maybe? It always reminded me of southern belle's in flowery silk dresses.

Cupcake Kind of Day...

There are a lot of cupcake stamps out there, so it really has to be special to catch my eye! I am pretty particular. This stamp really caught my eye, and I needed a stamp that would work with most any kind of birthday card.

I tried something different with this card base, I used cold press watercolor paper, then embossed the front. I must say, it does emboss beautifully on w/c paper. Very expensive looking, LOL. Reminds me of those pricey stationary set papers.

I'm looking forward to Papertrey Ink's new releases this month, although none of stamp sets are really calling my name (Yay, I save money!) I am very excited about the new papers, buttons and ribbons they'll be selling. PTI releases are always so much fun!

Summer Sunflowers

There was a thread over on SCS about coloring on Kraft paper, and it reminded me that I love the look and needed to try it again. This sunflower image from Whipper Snapper seemed perfect for it.

I used Liquid Glass and Cinnamon Stickles on some of the flower centers for added dimension. And of course, I had to try the button bow thing that everyone seems to be doing. I think I saw it first on Nichole Heady's blog, and loved the look! It's a lot easier than trying to glue the button to the ribbon, which I have done in the past. This is more durable, it won't fall apart.

Eloise Greengrass in Raspberry Tart

Look at this sweetie from Stamping Bella! Love her name! I looked through my stash of paper and SU's Raspberry Tart was the unmistakeable choice. It's perfect for her pretty flower petal dress.

I colored her with my colored pencils, and OMS. I always use a combination of Lyra, Polychromos and Prismacolor pencils. I think I like the Lyra's the best, and look at this price at ASW! You will NOT find a lower price anywhere, LOL. They are an awesome colored pencil, but unfortunately there aren't as many colors available as Faber Castell Polychromos, or Prismacolor. I hope they will expand the set some day.

Well, my sweetie is bugging me to decide where I want to go to dinner today (early Mother's Day), since we are visiting our mothers tomorrow, but I'm not hungry, so I can't decide!

A Gift

I Forgot about this beautiful Elisabeth Bell image by Sugar Nellie I got with my last order, so I inked it up quick and made this card with it. I love the little girl's polka dotted dress. I decided to pair it with this paper from Cosmo Cricket's Everafter collection. Very unusual color combinations that were a little hard to work with. But I like the result, very sophisticated and subdued.

The flower flourish in the upper left corner is a Verve Visual stamp that I stamped on a scrap of DP and painstakingly cut out. Pheww! That took a while! But it sure is pretty.

Our new puppy Ollie is going for his first Vet visit today! I have tons of questions for the vet, particularly why his breath is so bad! He has serious skunk breath! It's so bad it wakes me up in the middle of the night. He likes to plop his fat little self right next to my head on my pillow and breathe right on me, yuck! He's adorable and a pretty good pup, but something is not right with his breath!

Princess Maisy Ketto

How's this for adorable? This is little Maisy Ketto, fluttering around with her little crown. I love coloring these sweeties, with all their different patterns and little details.

I'm sure you're noticing how much I'm using the border punches lately! I don't know how I made cards without them! They add such a wonderful touch to everything. Plain and boring to fantastic in a few strokes. I used the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice punch on the edge of this card, I love the effect. Shhh...don't tell but I plan on collecting all these suckers! I just hope they don't go the way of decorative edge scissors...

CPS114 Sketch Challenge

I haven't played along with a sketch challenge in a long time, so I popped on over to the Card Positioning Systems blog to see what they had going on for the week. Sometimes I get stuck in a rut using the same basic layout for my cards over and over, so using someone else's sketch sometimes helps me dig myself out. Freshens things up and gives me new ideas to work with.

Here's my pretty simple take on the sketch. I saw it as a perfect opportunity to use my new Papertrey Ink buttons! All those lovely colors that I've never used yet. The colors are Aqua Mist, Fresh Snow and Hibiscus burst.

Adorable Ketto!

Aren't these the most adorable little fairies?!! I love them! They're so funky and whimsical! I just may have to get the whole collection of them from Stamping Bella...
Of course I had to use pretty sherbet colors, because that's what colors fairies are, right?! In my mind they are, LOL. This DP is actually from a K & Co. baby mat pad. Perfect colors , IMO. Not your typical baby pastels, they do actually remind me of sherbet ice cream.

Tilda the Butterfly

Here's a rather funky Tilda card, with a kind of pop-art, retro feel to it, doesn't it? It wasn't what I was planning at all while coloring the image, but I love the big polka-dot paper Magnolia sent to me, and it just kind of took off all on it's own after I decided to use it.

Tilda's wings are all sparkly and glittery of course, just as a butterfly's wings should be. It was a lot of fun coloring this one, acutally all Magnolia images are great to color! Not too detailed so that it's a pain in the neck to get in to all the tiny places, but not too simple either. Just right! And I think they have the largest variety of Tilda images in every pose, outfit and season. That's what I love--I can always find the perfect image for whatever kind of card I'm creating.

Mother's Day Teapot Card

I needed to take a break from coloring for a change. I think this is the first time I've ever let Papertrey Ink new releases sit in their box uninked for more than a day! I didn't play with these for over a week after I got them. Not like me!

I do think my style is changing though, and I use my PTI sets less and less. :-( Although I always reach for the sentiment sets, oh--and the background sets! I will always love those! I used four colors for this background, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides, Spring Moss, and Avocado.

The teapot was stamped first, then I masked it off with a post it, and used the flourish from Silent Night to stamp the design on the teapot. Not bad, huh? LOL.
