Haunted Hills

Hello everyone, how about a Halloween card today? Halloween cards are one of my favorite kinds of cards to make. I don't really give out any :-o  but I love making them all the same. This one is a hodge podge of several different digital and clear products.

The cute witch and her sidekick is from Mo's Digital Pencil (at least it was, I can't seem to find it in her web store anymore!), I think it's called Trick or Treat. I colored them up with Copics.

The papers are digital as well, from Design House Digitals 'Halloween Vintage Findings'. If they look familiar, it might be because I believe there's a paper pad from My Mind's Eye that has these same papers. I freehand cut some rolling hills using different patterns to create the background. I also stamped the haunted house and trees in the BG with a clear stamp set from Inkadinkado, I think. 

And last but not least, the Haunted House ticket is a printable from the Silhouette store. I really wanted coordinating ribbon too, but of course had nothing even close in my stash. So I striped a plain piece of grosgrain with a ruler and Copics. It actually bled a little and I thought I ruined the ribbon, but after tying it into a bow, turns out I LOVE the effect! One of those happy accidents I will be using again in the future, kind of an 'ombré' look to it.

Good morning all! How about a colorful summery card today? This cutie is a digital stamp from Tiddly Inks called 'Beach Babe'. She's colored in Copics.

The papers are also digital, and the best part is, they are a free kit from Summertime Designs called 'Flipflop-sicles'. She has tons of awesome digital collections on her blog, all for free!

Groovy Chick

Hello everyone, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that many of you liked my CAS card! I was a bit hesitant to even ask (in fear of the dreaded silence when people are too polite, lol) but apparently I had nothing to worry about! Thank you so much for all the kind words, they are very much appreciated.

Well, considering I much prefer lots of layers and embellishments on my usual cards, we're back to my comfort zone with this one. I thought this groovy little chick from Wee Stamps was calling out to be colored, so here's what I came up with...

I really wanted to do a hippie style card, but I didn't have any tie dye patterns, and really didn't feel searching for some, so I went some really colorful papers with very organic patterns instead. I skipped the whole peace, love thing and just went with the flow. 

I had to add a computer generated groovy sentiment though, complete with a Flower Power font, lol! And maybe the retro felt daisies...

Room with a View

Good morning everyone, how would you like to wake up every morning to a view like this out your window? I wish... but I may never leave my room if that were the case, lol! This is a gate (or window) die from Heartfelt Creations and I am nuts about it. I love the way you can open and close the shutters. I'd leave it closed when mailing, but what a nice surprise for the recipient when the shutters open up to reveal the pretty vista inside. 

I used a digital landscape from Just Inklined that I got a long time ago, unfortunately I don't see any more digital stamps in their web store anymore! I don't know what happened, maybe I'm just missing it. Anyway, I colored it with some Copics and mounted it behind the window.

Here's a closer look with the shutters partly closed. 

The gorgeous papers are from a Prima paper pad. I custom colored some of the smaller rosebuds from Wild Orchid Crafts with Copics too, I didn't have the right color to match the paper. It's why I bought a bunch of white roses, because I knew I would have this problem! Copics work really nicely because they kind of bleed along the soft paper giving them a more natural, softer looking color.

Now that's a strawberry stamp!

Hello everyone! I recently saw a new strawberry stamp set soon to be released from a popular co. , and was tempted to give in and buy it. But I am trying to wean myself away from purchasing more stamps that I don't need so I decided to try and find an alternative. As it happens, I already had a digital stamp from Beccy's Place, and the best part.... it was free! I love this strawberry cluster so much better than the one I was contemplating buying, so why waste the money? I love fruit stamps, berries being one of my favorites, so I'm always on the lookout for pretty ones to add to my collection. I'm not picky when it comes to stamps, digital, clear, rubber - I love 'em all.

I remembered that Raspberry Road Designs had a strawberry themed paper set, and they had an awesome sale for Easter last weekend, so I stocked up on some of my favorite collections. This one is called 'Strawberry Farms' and it is to-die-for. 

I added a white cherry blossom (can't remember where I got it) because it resembled Strawberry blossoms and some pretty flourishes for vines. The sentiment seal is from Catslife Press. I may be sending this one off to my Mom for Mother's Day this year, or I might change the sentiment to a general 'Mom' one because her birthday is right around Mother's Day. Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Ticket to love

Good morning folks! I recently saw a technique that's been around for ages in use on someone's blog and was finally inspired to try it out myself. (Stamping with bleach.) It's pretty cool because you can achieve lighter colors of the cardstock you're stamping on without using any ink! So, that's what I did for the background on this card...

I've used another Wryn digi, colored with my Copics. I was pretty impressed with the way the tree came out, I thought I would have to use my colored pencils to achieve the rough bark texture, but I didn't. Instead of coloring it in solidly with the darker brown Copics, I used long and short vertical lines to create the texture and I am very pleased with the effect. 

The grass, however, was done with colored pencils, there is just no way I can get those super fine lines I love with Copics. It would be pretty cool to have a fine drawing tip on Copic markers.

Hello everyone! I am loving these adorable Wryn images from Tiddly Inks, I even love her name, so perfect! I went with a bit of paper landscaping for this card. I'm not sure what it's really called, but whenever I see someone else make rolling hills, or clouds or sky using patterned papers, I love the look of it. Not to mention I had to give this new Memory Box tree and house die a try after weeks sitting on my desk unused. 

So I pulled out my favorite little spring colored paper pad from Prima, Fairy Flora. LOVE this collection, I really stocked up in case they decide to discontinue it, hmmph! I used the Memory Box die for the most distant hill, then hand cut another hill from another pattern. I added some hand stitching to give them some texture.

Little Wryn was colored with Copics and cut out so I could make her a part of the landscape. The little bird she was holding reminded me of the sweet birds from a Papertrey Ink set, so I stamped a tree and added some birds all around. I even stitched in some 'cherry blossoms' on the tree. 
I cut out the word 'tweet' on my Gazelle and cannibalized some words from another PTI set (yes, I cut my stamps apart, eeek!) to complete the sentiment. I know, cheesy, but a little girl would love this, right? I think so....

Cheery Wryn

Good morning everyone, hope your week is going by quickly and without too much stress. The weekend will soon be here! Hang in there...

I came across these adorable digital images from Tiddly Inks last week while searching for some new Valentine stuff to play with. Little Wryn is absolutely adorable, I got the whole collection right away. Super easy to color with my Copics too!

I opted to use the super fresh, super bright Piccadilly papers from Basic Grey and just added a lot of red accents to make it more in line with a Valentine card

The circle heart frame around the sentiment seal was cut on my Gazelle, I neglect that machine way too much. I'm not 100% in love with it though, rather disappointed actually. I expected more I guess.

Winter Birthday

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was very nice, I had a few days off so I really got to enjoy it at home and we went to my parents to spend the day with my folks and brothers. I did get all my baking done, as well as those snowflake cookies I was talking about but I've got NO pictures to show for it! I made the mistake of making two batches of butter cookie dough, not knowing that one would be way more than enough and it ended up being a HUGE project! I spent the entire day making cookies, then rest of the evening decorating them so I was exhausted. I wanted nothing more to do with them when they were finished! I learned a few things from that day, and I can say I won't be making them again any time soon, lol! But I had plenty to give out to family and friends, and even brought some to work and they seemed to be a big hit. It was a good recipe.

Anyway, I want my routine back, enough hustle and bustle so here's a card I made recently. I'm still in winter mode, not ready for flowers and springtime yet, so I decided on a winter birthday card. This is a digital image from Wee Stamps.

With the popularity of Nordic patterns all over the place, I was really wishing for an embossing folder with a knitted pattern. Cuttlebug, Sizzix, anyone? Anyone? Nope, nowhere to be found unfortunately. So, I improvised and created a stamped pattern using the knit background pattern from Waltzingmouse Stamps. How awesome would that be as an embossing folder?! They have herringbone, argyle, hounds tooth, but no knit! Get with it!

Image was colored with Copics, and I added a little decorative hand stitching around it. The snowflake is an Amuse Studio die that I covered in clear EP to make it nice and shiny.

Little Ragamuffin

I finally colored up this adorable little ragamuffin from Mo's Digital Pencil. It sat for the longest time on my desk, and I just kept passing it over for something else, and now I can't understand why! Gosh she's adorable!

I used very earthy, grayed colors she is after all, a raggedy angel. She's a poor little soul, not a dime to her name, but a heart as good as gold. I always tell myself these little stories when I color, I'm telling you, stamping and coloring is wonderful therapy. 

If you look closely, and click on the picture to enlarge it you might be able to see that I've finally managed to emboss a digital image out of the printer! It was such a frustrating thing for me, most times I was wasting paper. THIS time, I used some bleedproof paper and it worked beautifully! I love the way it looks. Copics color a bit differently on this paper, but nothing I can't work with. 
Again, I did some hand stitching around the label die cuts, to tie in with the raggedy angel look. And of course, some very vintage looking papers from Kaisercraft. The newsprint paper on the bottom layer is perfect, because I imagine this little ragamuffin might sell newspapers on a street corner to help buy all her family little gifts for Christmas!

Merry Little Elf

Hello again! How adorable is this little guy swinging from a shiny red ornament?! He looks a bit mischievous doesn't he? He knows he's so cute he can get away with almost anything...lol. He's 'Little Elf Finn' from Mo's Digital Pencil. 

I had a heck of a time coloring that red ornament, it's a pretty large area and hard to get a smooth blend. Perseverance is the name of the game! Eventually, it looked like a shiny red ball, lol!

The papers are from PTI's newest release, and I have to say, I like it a lot. If it's got snowflakes, I  love it!! Plus the colors are really awesome.

A Spooky Day

Good morning everyone! I have the weekend off and there's no kids and no significant other, so I am enjoyin' the peace and quiet! After work last night I settled down on the couch, and watched about 4 episodes of 'The Tudors' on Netflix, I can't tell you how long it's been since I've been able to do absolutely nothing! 

Well, I'm up bright and early (had to place my Papertrey Ink order nice and early before everything sold out, lol!) and I have another Halloween card to share. Now, to be perfectly honest, I don't really give out Halloween cards. Sometimes I sell them, or stash them in a box in case I might need it, or on the very rare occasion, give it along with a Halloween treat to someone special. I just love making them, I don't care about the 'What do I do with it?'. Cards are a miniature art form to me, the process is what makes me happy, it's my therapy!

So, how about some details... I found this gorgeous landscape background digital stamp from Motivet some time ago and just knew I had to color it. I don't do these types of cards very often, but sometimes I just have the urge to color up a whole scene. Problem was, after I colored the background, I couldn't find a cute little matching witch that was in the right proportion. I wasn't about to reprint and recolor the background so I set it aside. I find if I set something aside, eventually something will turn up that will work perfectly. Sure enough, this little cutie from SU's Greeting Card Kids was the answer.

I even made a matching postcard to go with the vintage card theme, it's kind of tucked in the back, a lot of it covered up. Oh well, the cool spider stamp is visible and that's the best part! This card was a lot of fun to make...

Sweet cakes

Hello everyone! I haven't been blogging for a while, I know, and it's all because of one light bulb. Yep, my Ottlite craft lamp that I use for crafting as well as taking pictures of my projects burned out and I can't get a good picture no matter what I do. I'm hoping to pick one up tomorrow and resume my regularly scheduled programming, lol!

LOVE these fruity cupcakes, they look scrumptious! I colored them with my colored pencils.

Pretty in Peach

Hello everyone! It looked like summer had arrived this past week, it was very, very hot! I wasn't quite ready for sweltering summer temps, but thankfully it cooled off nicely today. It's actually a bit chilly this morning and spring isn't quite done yet.

Summer temperatures remind me of summer fruits, and when I saw Mo's Digital Pencil release this little beauty, I colored her up in no time! Look at that carefree, joyful expression on the little darling's face, with a perfect peach in her hands. I love it!

She's colored with a combination of Copics and colored pencils. Love the way the two work together, as long as the Copics are used first. 

The papers are from an old K & Co. mat stack, perfect summery colors. A big Prima daisy, and a pretty peach colored bow complete the card. Sweet, no?

Fox? Squirrel?

Hello everyone! I tried pretty hard to stay away from the pastel colors this time, I do tend to stick with my favorite colors and next thing you know, all my stuff is starting to look the same, lol! SO I broke out the bold, bright colors and went with it.

As the title of this post says, I'm not sure what kind of animal this is, but isn't it CUTE?! This little guy is a digital image from Wee Stamps.

I colored him with my colored pencils, thinking more 'fox' like colors than squirrel, only because I like the reddish browns better than greys. 

I die cut some Creatables flourishes, punched and shaped some little flowers to add some floral sprays in the corners. A big fluffy seam binding bow finishes the card.


So how'd I do without the pastels?

Tropical Beauty

Good morning blog friends, I'm back with another card to share with you. This is a totally summery one, hot tropical colors to ward off the rainy day blues I've been having for the past week! Rain, rain and more rain. The sun would come out for half a day, and then guess what? More rain... sheesh!

I was reminiscing about my trip to the Bahamas many, many moons ago and the gorgeous Hibiscus shrubs that grew absolutely everywhere. You think the flowers you see on Hibiscus plants in the gardens here are big? In the Bahamas they are the size of dinner plates! So, so beautiful. I ran across this digi from Floppy Latte Designs a while back and had to color it up. 

I just used my colored pencils to color this one in, cut out one flower and popped it up for some added dimension. 

I think I've had this paper for going on 3 years, a whole big book of Amy Butler patterns, and hardly ever use it. But, just so happens, it was perfect for this tropical themed card! THAT is why I never get rid of anything, lol!

Sweet Baby

Good morning everyone! I have a baby card to share with you all today using one of Mo Manning's digital images. This baby image is one of the most beautiful ones I've ever run across, I love her soft wispy hair and elegant little dress. It made me think of an heirloom christening dress in ivory lace and silk and I tried to color it that way. 

The background paper was embossed with one of Sizzix's older texture plates. I always spritz my cardstock with a light mist of water before running it through my machine for a crisper impression when using the texture plates.

Baby's skin was colored with Copics and the rest of her in colored pencils. The little tag is from PTI's Tiny Tags stamp set and coordinating dies. I have a thing for really tiny tags, you can stick them almost anywhere. I really struggle adding any larger sentiments, tag or not, I can never seem to find the 'perfect' place for them on the card after I'm done. I always try to incorporate them into my card before I finish the final layout, but most times I forget until everything is attached, lol! So these tags make me happy!

The Little Things

Good morning everyone, I'm glad to be back home even though it's a disaster area, lol. While I was away in NC visiting my brothers, my darling Jimmy decided it was time to re-tile our one bathroom. Wonderful! The shiny new white tiles are beautiful. The rest of the house....NOT! sigh.... I'm going to have blinders on for a few days, just pretend everything's normal.

Just as I suspected, we were staying with my brother who happens to NOT have internet at home. He lives alone and only needs his HTC smart phone for all his internet needs, so I was out of luck. I did manage to 'borrow' from the neighbor's Wi Fi if I was sitting out in the yard, haha, but the signal was pretty weak. 

Anyway, here's a card I made using one of Wee Stamps new images last week.

I hope I don't have trouble getting back into the 'groove' after my vacation, sometimes my mojo takes a while to come back to me, lol.

Feeling Blue?

Paint yourself a different color! That is soooo cute, I love these sweet/funny sentiments by children from Inkadinkado. I can just hear my own kids saying similar things when they were little, lol!

Anyway, I thought it was appropriate for this sweet raincoat clad cutie. After all, she's all in yellow, and you can't feel blue in yellow! This darling image is another beautiful digi stamp from Mo Manning. I'm telling you, she's got stamps for every occasion, from common to completely uncommon, but so appropriate. Her style is just so different, and I love so many of them.

I colored her with my colored pencils, and added Liquid Glass all over her rain gear. Looks more like shiny vinyl that way.

Sweet Angel

Isn't this little girl just like a little angel? Look at that face! I am so in love with these images from Wee Stamps. I have a feeling this artist is going to be in serious demand and we will soon be seeing many of her designs in rubber!

I chose these pretty Stampin Up papers in soft feminine colors, but NOT pink, lol! I do tend to overdo it with the pink. I colored the sweetie with my colored pencils, her skin with Copics.

I love using the stamps that coordinate with Spellbinders labels, I wish there were more available. This one is from Gina K. The sentiment is from PTI though.
